There is something incredibly special about those first few weeks — the quiet stretches, tiny movements, and the way parents naturally lean in closer without even realising it. This newborn session was a beautiful blend of simplicity and connection, focusing on baby-led moments and the love surrounding them.
Using soft, neutral tones and gentle posing, the session allowed space for natural expressions, sleepy stretches, and intimate family moments. These early days pass quickly, which is why newborn photography is about more than portraits — it’s about preserving how it felt to hold them so small.
Newborn sessions are best photographed within the first 7–14 days, when babies are still curled, sleepy, and settled. However, this newborn session was done when little one was around 8 weeks old and its stunning. Every session is calm, unhurried, and tailored to your baby’s needs, creating timeless images you’ll treasure long after these days have slipped by.

Oh my heart I can’t believe I’ve photographed this gorgeous family so many times now!

I did big brother’s newborn and cake smash, then these two when they were tiny newborns… and now their first birthday cake smash!

Mum went for a neutral cloud theme and it turned out absolutely dreamy, soft, simple and oh so cute.
I’m just finishing up their gallery and honestly, I can’t stop smiling going through these photos!

A Beautiful Newborn Session in Hull | Baby Boy <3

What an absolute dream this little one was in the studio! From the moment he arrived, he completely stole my heart. Those adorable chubby cheeks and squishy baby rolls were just too cute for words. Every pose showed off his perfect features, and he was such a calm, sleepy baby throughout his session despite his Mummy worrying because he doesn't stay still...

We styled his session using a mix of neutral tones and soft blues, creating a calm and timeless look that works beautifully in any home. These classic colours always photograph so well and really draw attention to baby’s sweet expressions and perfect little details.

It was so lovely having Mum and Nani in the studio too. You could truly feel the love between the generations. Those family portraits are full of warmth, tenderness, and pride. I always love capturing these connections; they’re the kind of images that families treasure forever.

Originally, Nani (who was very excited) had booked my middle package, but after seeing the beautiful gallery, she decided to upgrade to the top collection — and I don’t blame her! Every image is beautiful, and it was impossible to choose just a few favourites, even for me! I was over the moon when they also decided to book their cake smash session for next year and take advantage of my special offer.... I already can’t wait to see how much he’s grown by then!

This session was such a amazing from start to finish — full of love, laughter, and those precious first memories.

💕 Meet My Family

Hi, I’m Sammy, the face behind Samantha Jade Photography, and I thought it was about time you got to know the people (and pups) who make my world go round!

I spend so much of my time capturing other families’ special memories, so it feels only right to share a little peek into my own. After all, family is at the heart of everything I do.

My Little Crew ❤

First up, there’s Adam, my wonderful husband and biggest supporter. He’s the calm to my chaos, the one who keeps me grounded when I’m juggling editing, sessions, and family life. You might not see him in the studio, but he’s the one cheering me on behind the scenes and often helping me clean up after cake smashes and aiding in balloon arches. On top of that, I am a very proud wife as he also works just as hard, if not harder sometimes running his own business.

Then there are my boys, my biggest inspiration for what I do. Watching them grow from tiny newborns into their own little people is what truly sparked my love for photography. Those early days, the sleepy snuggles, the chubby cheeks, the blink-and-you-miss-it milestones that’s where it all began for me, properly anyways... I've always had a passion for photography even though it started with landscapes and fast cars!

And of course, I can’t forget our two dogs, who are just as much a part of the family! My little fur babies, Roxy and Diasy. Roxy is a lhasa apso and Daisy is a shihzhu. They’re always up for an adventure, especially when we’re away in our caravan exploring the countryside or spending weekends by the water with our paddle boards. It’s our way of switching off and soaking up family time... And, if we're not out and about, we're playing games and snuggling on the sofa... I'm a massive Nintendo Dreamlight valley fan, it's my way of switching off.

Why Family Means Everything

Having a family of my own has taught me just how fast life changes, one minute you’re cradling a tiny newborn, and the next you’re chasing them across the park, or dragging them out of bed in those teen years otherwise they'll be late for school...

When families come into my studio, I completely understand what those memories mean. I know the feeling of wanting to hold onto every stage, from baby’s first smile to their first birthday, and beyond. That’s why I pour my heart into every session because I’ve been there too. It's not just about those perfect smiley faces, it's those screwed up faces, angelic moments and laughter.

This little man came to celebrate his 1st birthday with me, complete with a fun cake smash and splash!

I’ve been lucky enough to photograph him since he was a tiny newborn, so it’s such an honour watching him grow and seeing that cheeky personality shine through each time he visits.

January Round Up

My first EVER monthly round up!! Lets just start it off by discussing January in my cosy little home studio in Hull, Kingswood!

January is usually a slow month for me, which is fine as like everyone, recovering from the Christmas period takes some doing, doesn't it? This year though, wow, busy!! I photographed A LOT of newborns and A lot of cake smashes and it is safe to say that January 2024 saw my busiest of Januarys YET!

I know you are not here to read through me rambling on so I am going to share some of the photographs I captured that I have consent to sharing and let you enjoy the work I have produced.

I love these colours together, the beige and the pastel blue really do compliment one another and also give the more timeless feel to these images. This gallery is one of my favourites.

Another gallery of beige and a pastel colour which really do work well together. This lovely little family only visited the studio a month before her arrival for a maternity session... I'll post a photo below!!

The best part of my job, is seeing your babies grow!! I photographed this little man when he was a newborn baby and having him back for his cake smash is just fantastic!! See below some of his newborn photos from his newborn session.

Another previous client I had the pleasure of photographing from newborn. Although she was a little harder to photograph during her cake smash and we had to get her big brother involved and that's ok. I always say, children are not performing monkeys :)

This family was incredible to have in the studio and I think we pretty much laughed throughout out. The boys was such a great sport and getting their pictures done as well which is awesome considering their ages!!

This gorgeous gallery is a prime example as to why you can still book your baby in for a newborn style photoshoot if you have missed the window for the recommendation 5-14 days after birth.
